What is Cloud Gaming?

April 14, 2011 Leave a comment

Cloud gaming, also called gaming on demand, is a type of online gaming that allows direct and on-demand streaming of games onto a computer through the use of a thin client, in which the actual game is stored on the game company’s server and is streamed directly to computers accessing the server through the client. This allows access to games without the need of a console and largely makes the capability of the user’s computer unimportant, as the server is the system that is running the processing needs. The controls and button presses from the user are transmitted directly to the server, where they are recorded, and the server then sends back the game’s response to the input controls. This process works swiftly, with “less than a millisecond of lag, allowing for an almost seamless gaming experience.” Furthermore, a low-level internet connection will also work with the server connection, with only a “DSL connection of 1.5 mbps” needed for a standard-definition television.

Image to Text

April 6, 2011 Leave a comment

A picture is worth a thousand words, which means that it is some tens of thousands characters! That’s exactly what image to ascii tools do. Back to the early ages of computers, it was a way to create simple graphics using the available textual characters. It was an art, but know it is a technique that it is implemented from the http://www.text-image.com/.

March 14, 2011 Leave a comment

For a new programmer there is the difficult choice of what programming language to use.Although some languages are more popular than others, it is very hard to choose which one fits your needs and your liking. It’s like choosing which foreigh language you’ll learn next!There are so many and so different!One of my professors showed us this drawing of a Programming Tower of Babel,and if you think about it,the original myth applies perfectly in the case of programmers.Everyone has his favourite one and they end up disputing about which language is the best!

Extract HTML table’s data in a new window

March 13, 2011 Leave a comment

The question:

How could I extract the data that already rendered as a HTML Table in my web site, as a new Table that will be easily copied-pasted in an Excel spreadsheet?
The answer:

In case that our Table element has ‘data’ as id then we could use the following javascript function:

function showDataInNewWindow(){

try{

var tmp = ‘<table border=”1″><thead><tr>’;

$(“#data th”).each(function () { // iterate tr

tmp= tmp+'<th>’+$(this).text()+'</th>’;

});

tmp=tmp+'</tr></thead><tbody>’;

$(‘#data tr’).each(function () { // iterate tr

tmp = tmp+’ <tr>’;

$(this).find(‘td’).each(function () { // iterate td

tmp =tmp+ ‘<td>’+$(this).text()+'</td>’;

});

tmp=tmp+'</tr>’;

});

tmp=tmp+'</tbody></table>’

myWindow=window.open(”,’Data’,’width=800,height=600,left=0,top=0′);

myWindow.document.write(tmp);

myWindow.document.close();

myWindow.focus();

}catch(e){

alert(e);

}

}

Notes:
1) jQuery library has been used
